Friday, December 14

History Ski Tour: Aspen Mountain (11 a.m. and 1 p.m., guest service cabin below Sundeck). Learn about the amazing mining and ski history lying beneath your feet as you tour Aspen Mountain with a long-time local historian. These tours meet every Friday at the guest service cabin below the Sundeck at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The tours are free, but a lift ticket is required to get to the meeting location.


Saturday, December 15

St. Regis 7th Annual Tree Lighting (5 p.m., St. Regis Aspen Resort).  Bundle up and join the St. Regis Aspen for their 7th annual kick-off to the holiday season. General Manager Heather-Steenage Hart invites the community to experience the magic of the holidays as they illuminate their 40ft tree. Featuring a performance by the Aspen High School band and singers, a photo booth with Santa Claus, holiday cookies, festive beverages and a dual champagne sabering. No RSVP required. This event is free and open to the public.


Sunday, December 16

Aspen Film and Wheeler Opera House present: This Mountain Life (6:30 p.m., Wheeler Opera House). Shot in cinematic detail, This Mountain Life is a riveting examination of human passion set high in the peaks of British Columbia. Admission is $15 and tickets can be purchased online here.

Monday, December 17

Craft Your Own Ornament (3-4 p.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m., St. Regis). Commemorate the holiday season by creating a treasure for your holiday tree. Reservations recommended and can be booked online here.  Admission is $20/person.


Tuesday, December 18

Anderson Ranch Arts Center Holiday Open House (4:30 p.m., Anderson Ranch Arts Center). The annual Anderson Ranch Arts Center Holiday Open House is a festive evening featuring Artists-in-Residence studio tours, a special exhibition opening in the Patton-Malott Gallery, holiday-themed craft activities for children and a trunk show in the ArtWorks Store. The evening is capped off with a community holiday dinner in the Ranch Café. This event is free and open to the public.



Wednesday, December 19

Wheeler Opera House Tour (1:30 p.m., Wheeler Opera House). The center of Aspen’s arts and cultural scene since it was built in 1889, the Wheeler Opera House has stood the test of time. Join Aspen Historical Society for a free tour in partnership with the Wheeler Opera House to view an insider’s look at the iconic building, including its recent renovations and storied past.

Thursday, December 20

12 Days of Aspen (through Dec. 31, various locations around Aspen). Over the holidays, Aspen is transformed into a Winter Wonderland.  During the 12 Days of Aspen downtown Aspen comes alive with everything from holiday treats to carolers. For a look at the entire schedule click here.


Friday, December 21

JAS Café: Sweet Lu Olutosin (8 p.m., downstairs at The Little Nell). Join Sweet Lu Olutosin for the first winter performance of the season for Jazz Aspen Snowmass' JAS Café series. Whether it’s headlining at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C or, playing the Teatro Rendano in Consenza, Italy, Lu’s performances are life changing.
