Monday, January 7

History Ski Tour: Aspen Highlands (11 a.m. and 1 p.m., guest service cabin outside Merry Go Round). Ski with a local historian to learn about Aspen Highlands’ “maverick”, innovative, and unique past. These tours meet every Monday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The tours are free, but a lift ticket is required to get to the meeting location.

Tuesday, January 8

22nd Winter Words series with Tommy Caldwell (doors open at 5:30 p.m., event starts at 7:00 p.m., Paepcke Auditorium at the Aspen Institute Campus). The Winter Words series celebrates some of America’s leading authors. Join Tommy Caldwell, author of the New York Times best-selling memoir, “The Push: A Climber’s Search for the Path,” as he records on some of the world’s toughest climbs. A signing will follow the discussion. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online here.

Wednesday, January 9

ACES Potbelly Perspective Speaker Series with Elinor Fish (7:00 p.m., Hallam Lake). Join valley local Elinor Fish as she shares inspirational stories of strength, resilience, and self-discovery through adventure, adversity, and self-awareness.

Thursday, January 10

Wintersköl™ (through January 13, various locations around Aspen). Aspen's annual "toast to winter," dates back to a quiet January in 1951 when local Aspenites decided to celebrate Aspen's unique Nordic lifestyle with an eclectic weekend of festivities.  Today the four-day celebration features Wintersculpt, WinterFest, a canine fashion show, fireworks and much more. Thursday, January 10

Theatre Aspen: Newsies the Broadway Musical (through January 13, The Aspen District Theatre). Presented by Theatre Aspen's Winter Conservatory, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teen aged "newsies." Tickets can be purchased online here.

Friday, January 11

JAS Café: Sammy Miller & The Congregation (through January 12, The Little Nell) Join JAS Café downstairs at The Little Nell with Sammy Miller and the Congregation as they put the generosity back into jazz and bring art back to the people. Tickets can be purchased online here.

Friday, January 11

Popovich Comedy Pet Theater (6:30 p.m., Wheeler Opera House). Catch one of the most beloved family shows in the world, featuring European-style circus extravaganza including physical comedy, juggling, acrobats from the Moscow Circus, highly intelligent dogs and even house cats! Saturday, January 12

Black Pistol Fire at Belly Up (9:00 p.m., Belly Up Aspen). Spend your Saturday night with one of Belly Up’s most popular bands, Black Pistol Fire. This high-octane rock duo will keep you dancing all night. Tickets for this  show at Belly Up can be purchased online or in person at the Belly Up box office

Sunday, January 13

Aspen Gay Ski Week (through January 20, various locations throughout Aspen). Celebrate with the oldest annual, week-long gay ski event in the nation. From dinners to spa events, après parties, and ski days, this week long celebration is not to be missed. Full schedule here.
