Friday, October 12
The DeadPhish Orchestra (10 p.m., Belly Up). Kick off Friday evening with a free show (no cover until 10 p.m.) at Belly Up with The DeadPhish Orchestra. Band members include Chris Sheldon (drums/vocals), Paul Murin (guitar/vocals), Brian Adams (bass/vocals) and Ted Tilton (keyboards/vocals).
Saturday, October 13
ACES Harvest Party (12 p.m., Rock Bottom Ranch). Join ACES to celebrate fall at the annual Harvest Party at Rock Bottom Ranch from 12-4 p.m. This all ages event features lunch, live music, and fun activities around the Ranch. Guests will enjoy pumpkin carving, apple cider pressing, hay rides, farm tours, face painting, traditional ranch games, dancing, a "green" silent auction, and more. Sunday, October 14
Sunday Night Football at Belly Up (6 p.m., Belly Up). Enjoy Sunday Night Football on the big screen at Belly Up with food and drink specials including $15 large plates + beer, sliders or wings + beer for $10, and $5 Sam Adams.
Monday, October 15
Yoga for Anxiety (6 p.m., Aspen Chapel). Learn tools to manage anxiety through the lens of yoga. This class will cover relevant yoga philosophy, discuss energetics of anxiety and its symptoms from a yogic perspective, and practice using a variety of tools to support your wellness, including yoga postures, breath, affirmation, mantra, mudras and more. Aspen Words Writer in Residence: Yolanda Wisher (5:30 p.m., Hooch). Yolanda Wisher is the 2016-17 poet laureate of Philadelphia. She is the author of the poetry volume "Monk Eats an Afro" and co-edited the anthology "Peace is Haiku Song" with mentor and first Philadelphia Poet Laureate Sonia Sanchez. Join Aspen Words for this free public talk and reading with Yolanda.
Wednesday, October 17
Afterschool Art Play (2 p.m., Red Brick Center for the Arts). Afterschool Art Play is a chance for elementary age children to be creative, explore and play with art and a variety of art materials all while being with friends and having fun. Each week children explore a theme through a different medium such as collage, painting, ceramics and more. Afterschool Art Play is $20/per class. Thursday, October 18
The Great Debate (5 p.m., Aspen Art Museum). The Great Debate is a public program inviting elevated, engaged conversations around questions that unpack our opinions around art and beyond. Following the centuries-old format of the Oxford Union, the proposition “Are Facts Fundamental to Truth?” will be debated by four luminaries—two for and two against. Once the speakers have put forth their arguments, the discussion will open up to the audience for deliberation and a final vote. This Aspen Art Museum event is free and open to the public.
Friday, October 19
Magic Beans (9 p.m., Belly Up). Enjoy a free show (no cover until 10 p.m.) from the Magic Beans at Belly Up. The Magic Beans are band with a passion for music that is as infectious as their songs, both of which have gained them national notoriety in a short time.
